Gladstone Pottery Museum won the coveted Heritage Award at a ceremony on 15th February 2017 at the Mitchel Arts Centre, Hanley. Winners of the awards were voted for by the listeners of 6TR, Six Towns Radio.

2016 Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards


The winners of 2016 NFU Mutual Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards were revealed during an awards ceremony held on Tuesday 15th November 2016 at the State Room, Alton Towers Conference Centre, Alton Towers Resort. more>


The awards were independently judged and verified by Service Science. Entrants were reviewed and marked on their commitment to delivering excellent customer service, training and skills for employees, sustainability and environment; along with the entrants’ proactivity and dedication to best practice, quality of service and product.

There were 20 categories for the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards which include accolades for visitor attractions, accommodation businesses, experiences and also recognise the food and drink industry.

Gladstone Pottery Museum won three awards:

SILVER AWARD for Best Small Visitor Attraction
SILVER AWARD for Inclusive Tourism
HIGHLY COMMENDED for Sustainable Tourism

2015 One Big Day - Three Big Awards


Gladstone Pottery Museum wins three major tourism awards presented by Enjoy Staffordshire 2015

2015 WINNER - The Visit England Awards for Excellence

11 MAY 2015 

Gladstone Pottery Museum has been officially named one of the best places to visit in England. The Museum picked up a bronze award for ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year’ in the 2015 Visit England Awards for Excellence.

At an awards ceremony in Gateshead on 11 May 2015 Angela Lee (Museum Manager) and Nerys Williams (Audience Development Officer) received the Bronze Award.   The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence are the most prestigious awards in English tourism.

THREE YEARS = THREE AWARDS  

Gladstone Pottery Museum picked up the gold award for ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year’ in 2013 and again a year later in 2014, in the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards. So now its official and Gladstone Pottery Museum is one of the top three small visitor attractions in England. Still winning awards after 40 years!

Many congratulations go to Gladstone Pottery Museum who have been announced as finalists in the shortlist for this year’s VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, Small Visitor Attraction of the Year.

By making it to the Ceremony all finalists will have demonstrated that they are the very best of English Tourism. Gladstone Pottery Museum gets gold award for ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year’ 

Winners are announced for the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards. Destination Staffordshire and the Staffordshire tourism industry have celebrated the best in business this year with stand-out winners including Denstone Hall Farm Shop and Café, Colton House, Drayton Manor Theme Park and The Lewis Partnership, and Gladstone Pottery Museum. Announced at a wartime-themed ceremony at the National Memorial Arboretum on Monday 17th November 2014, the awards celebrated best in businesses across Staffordshire.

2013 Sandford Award 

Heritage Eductation Trust and Bishop Grosseteste University Lincoln
For outstanding contribution to heritage education and learning within the historic environment. Gladstone has been given a prestigious Sandford Award for excellence in it's education provision. The independently judged award provides a quality assurance kite mark for education at heritage sites, museums, archives and collections and is nationally recognised. This is fantastic news for the Museums Education team and all of the guides, visitor services, workshop staff and everyone else on site who make school and group visits so special. Winners are announced for the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards 2013. Destination Staffordshire and the Staffordshire tourism industry have celebrated the best in business this year with stand-out winners and Gladstone Pottery Museum picked up the gold award for small visitor attraction. Excellent news! This was at the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards and our category was a public vote. A massive thank you to everyone who voted for us - this means a huge amount to all of the staff at Gladstone.

1978 The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and The Times Conservation Award

This award showcases outstanding work in conservation of a single building or a group of buildings or structures and covers renovation or conservation to a new or original use. Judges look for projects that take all aspects of conservation into consideration including the impact to the environment, use of traditional material/techniques, research that was undertaken into the background of the project, impact on the community, re-using original material and implementing plans which will ensure the survival of the historic building or structure into the future.
